Spectral Rebel Podcast #97: Juan Sanchez

About Us

Labeled by many as a sovereign tastemaker within the international electronic music community, Amsterdam-based DJ/producer and FORMAT-founder Juan Sanchez continues to consistently and relentlessly push techno boundaries. His trademarked stripped-down sound, which is as sophisticated as it is potent, has made him a respected name in his league and a preferred pick for numerous promoters across the globe. As a DJ, he has graced peak time slots at clubs and festivals around the world. In 2014, Juan got invited to play at the Dutch edition of one of the world’s most famous techno shindigs, Time Warp, which was followed by another prestigious gig at Berlin’s Berghain in 2015. However, Juan’s skills stretch further than just the decks: his studio output has appeared on a wealth of labels such as Drumcode, Stockholm LTD and Wolfskuil amongst many others. Aside from DJ’ing and studio duty, Juan also operates his own record label FORMAT, which serves as an outlet for potent and mature underground techno. With a seventh release by Juan himself appearing soon on the label, FORMAT cuts have been garnering support from Adam Beyer, Laurent Garnier, Rødhåd, Len Faki and DVS1 amongst many others. And judged by the many project and gigs lined up, 2016 is promising to be another bar-raising year for the likeable Dutch-Spanish artist…
